Wildlife area gains interpretive signs

May 05, 2022

Thanks to a $2,500 grant from District 28 Region of Durham in 2021, a series of interpretive signs will be added to the Nonquon Provincial Wildlife Area.

The project, called “Signs of Nature,” will display an informative account of the flora and fauna of this local area, in written, picture, diagram, satellite imagery and mapping formats. The signage and accompanying flyers will remind visitors that these wetlands provide many important services to them and their community, from flood control to CO2 storage.

The District 28 funding is part of RTOERO’s annual Project – Service to Others (PSTO). Districts apply for individual projects (education-related or other community initiatives) that support a local, national or international program.
