Many Baby Boomers care for parents who require support and assistance with the activities of daily life. At the same time, caregivers often face diminishing health and an increasing need for support. There is a confusing maze of services, many of which are difficult to access, when family caregivers need assistance.
Increasingly, Baby Booms wish to age in place in their community. This session, by Dr. Patricia Spindel, will focus on the alternatives to institutionalizing elders. The current long-term care system will be described, as well as the implications of the government’s policy and funding priorities.
A discussion of the role of corporations in long-term care and why this is problematic, especially in light of the possibility of a Southbridge facility in Port Perry, will be included.
Please join us on Thursday February 15th at 1:00 pm for this important presentation, which will highlight RTOERO‘s key advocacy issues including the need for a Seniors strategy, and enhanced geriatric health care. Time will be provided for Q and A at the end of the event.
