On November 30th over 125 members of District 28 of RTOERO and their friends got together at Scugog Community Center to celebrate the start of the holiday season. A delicious lunch, catered by Basil Leaf Culinary & Creative Works of Whitby, was enjoyed at tables festively decorated with center pieces made by Charmaine and David Huculak. The winner of our ever-popular 50/50 draw, Mary Taylor, took home $270.00 and the same amount went to Hearth Place, Oshawa. Our president, Don Farquharson, humourously turned over his role of “boring the members with financial reports” to Ryan Uytdewilligen from Circles Enrichment, who presented a comprehensive look at film and filmmakers and their place in the history and myths of WWII, entitled Hollywood Goes To War. From what we’ve heard to date, an enjoyable time among friends was had by all who attended.
